The process of applying for a temporary residence permit
To apply for a temporary residence permit in Poland, a foreigner must presume, staying in the country for more than 3 months. A temporary residence permit can be issued for a maximum of 3 years, but in some cases it can be shorter if the basis for applying for the permit indicates that a shorter stay is justified.
The procedure for applying for a temporary residence permit takes place at the provincial office responsible for foreigners’ affairs. To submit an application, you need to
complete two copies of the application for a temporary residence permit in accordance with the instructions;
provide four recent color photographs,
a valid travel document (with two copies of all written pages);
confirmation of payment of stamp duty;
basic documents required for the type of temporary residence permit.

Consequences of non-renewal of temporary residence permit
It is important to remember that temporary residence permits in Poland are not renewed. If a foreigner wishes to remain in Poland after the expiration of the temporary residence permit, he or she must apply for a new permit. Otherwise, the foreigner should leave Poland before the expiration of the temporary residence permit, unless he/she has obtained another valid document that allows him/her to stay in Poland legally, such as another temporary residence permit, permanent residence permit or long-term EU resident permit.
