Types of residence permits

Temporary residence permit: This is the most common type of residence permit, which allows people from non-EU countries to live in Poland for a specified period of time. It requires a standard application form, recent photos, a valid passport, stamp duty confirmation and other documents depending on the reason for immigration.

Permanent residence permit: Can be obtained after staying in Poland from 1 to 10 years, depending on the foreigner’s status. It is a document that allows the right to permanent residence in the country. To apply for this permit, the applicant must provide documents proving that he or she has lived in Poland for at least 5 years before applying.

Long-term residence permit for EU citizens: This category is for citizens of EU member states who wish to live in Poland permanently. Required documents include an application form, a copy of a valid travel or other identity document, confirmation of registration for temporary residence, and documents or written statements that the applicable conditions are being complied with.
